SUMMARY:Online webinar: Degrowth and Food Systems
DESCRIPTION:Join the New Economy Network Australia (NENA) and Degrowth Network Australia (DNA) for Degrowth and Food Systems\, just one of many free\, online webinars happening throughout Degrowth Week (10-14th July). \n  \nWhat is Degrowth? \nWe live in a time of ecological and climate crises\, as well as increasing levels of inequality and stress. There are many people and groups that are working to mitigate and transform these problems\, and this week of webinars will bring many of them together to discuss how their strategies and tactics are part of the global and Australian degrowth movement. \n“Degrowth” refers to a set of theories and a powerful\, growing\, social and economic movement – that critique the paradigm of endless economic growth. The idea of ‘degrowth’ is that wealthy economies should move past growth of gross domestic product (GDP) as a goal\, scale down destructive and unnecessary forms of production to reduce energy and material use\, and focus economic activity around securing human needs and ecological well-being. Degrowth is a purposeful strategy to create localised\, socially just and ecologically-centred societies and economies. \n  \nDegrowth and Food Systems \nThe webinar will begin with a one hour information session for you to listen to and ask questions (maybe while gardening or washing the dishes!). This will be immediately followed by an up to one hour session that will enable discussions for all participants\, to further explore the issues presented in the webinar. \nSpeakers include Terry Leahy (Author) and Tammi Jonas (Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance). \nTo get your free tickets to all Degrowth Week events\, please see the Book/Enquire link. \n  \n“While FFI takes every reasonable effort to ensure that information is correct at the time of publication\, we recommend that the individual confirm details with the event organiser\, as events can be subject to last minute changes.” \n
