Online workshop: food security and dignified access to good food

Please note: While this online workshop is aimed at Wyndham residents, this important discussion could provide inspiration and insight for Illawarra residents fighting food insecurity.

Wyndham residents experience high rates of food insecurity and food relief services are often stretched. Join experts, colleagues and council staff to explore what actions can be taken to ensure all Wyndham residents enjoy affordable, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.

Dr Rebecca Lindberg, Research Fellow, Deakin University, will define food insecurity, outline its implications for health, and highlight populations who are at an increased risk. She will present principles and processes that are in line with the human right to food to help highlight how local governments, and others, can better respond to food insecurity in their local community.

We will also hear from Ian Fenton from Wyndham Park Community Centre about the food relief program at the centre and the food access challenges facing the Wyndham community.

Bookings are essential.
