Solidarity Session #22 – A People’s Food Plan for farmers and eaters is an open callout for anyone who’d like to be involved in shaping AFSA’s revised People’s Food Plan.

Since the launch of AFSA’s first People’s Food Plan in 2013, a lot has changed. Australia’s food sovereignty movement has rapidly grown to include a diverse cross section of First Peoples, farmers, eaters and activists who share a vision for socially-just and ecologically-sound food and agricultural systems.

What’s more, the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change have catalysed conversations around food security and food justice. So, this Solidarity Session calls on our community to provide input on an updated People’s Food Plan that represents both farmers and eaters. During this session, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss specific actions that the People’s Food Plan should target under the 7 Pillars of Food Sovereignty:

  • Food for people
  • Builds knowledge and skills
  • Works with nature
  • Values food providers
  • Localised food systems
  • Puts control locally
  • Food is sacred

This Solidarity Session will be an open discussion, so come ready with bold ideas that will actively become part of the People’s Food Plan draft at this year’s AGM.

  • Date: Wednesday 25 May 2022
  • Time: 6.30-8.00pm (AEST)
  • Location: Online
